Crafted by Hand
Many Joy Osula garments are made using hand-dyed Adire, handwoven Aso Oke, reclaimed textiles and individually finished details.
Because of this, no two garments will ever be exactly alike.
You may notice subtle variations in colour, print placement, weave, stitching or texture. These are not faults or manufacturing defects—they are part of the character of your garment and reflect the craftsmanship behind its creation.
We encourage you to embrace these differences as part of your piece's unique story.
Care Instructions
Cotton Jerseys & T-Shirts
- Machine wash cold (30°C maximum).
- Wash inside out with similar colours.
- Use a mild detergent.
- Do not bleach.
- Line dry where possible.
- Warm iron on reverse, avoiding printed or embroidered areas.
Cotton Fleece (Hoodies, Sweatshirts & Sweatpants)
- Wash inside out on a gentle cold cycle.
- Hand washing is recommended for maximum longevity.
- Use mild detergent only.
- Do not bleach.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Line dry naturally.
- Cool iron on reverse if required.
Waterproof Jackets
- Spot clean whenever possible.
- Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cold cycle.
- Use a gentle detergent.
- Do not bleach.
- Hang dry naturally.
- Avoid tumble drying.
- Cool iron only if necessary.
Adire (Hand-Dyed Batik)
Each Adire textile is individually hand-dyed by skilled artisans.
- Hand wash separately in cold water.
- Use a mild detergent.
- Do not bleach.
- Avoid prolonged soaking.
- Line dry in shade.
- Cool iron on reverse.
Some colour transfer may occur during the first few washes due to the traditional dyeing process.
Aso Oke
Aso Oke is a handwoven ceremonial textile that deserves extra care.
- Dry cleaning is recommended.
- Alternatively, hand wash gently in cold water.
- Never wring or twist.
- Dry flat or line dry in shade.
- Iron on reverse using a pressing cloth.
- Store folded in a cool, dry place.
Knitwear
- Hand wash or use a wool cycle.
- Lay flat to dry.
- Reshape while damp.
- Never hang wet knitwear.
- Store folded to maintain shape.
