Year Two: Continuing the TEC Movement for Rural Education in Edo state Nigeria

This month we officially completed the first year of our rural education support initiative in Edo State, Nigeria through the TEC Movement for Rural Education.

What began as a small familyled effort to support local education in our ancestral village  has continued to grow slowly and intentionally. Over the past year, support has gone towards helping youth corps teachers with housing, salaries and basic educational structure within the community.

As we begin planning for Year Two, we are also navigating the wider realities currently affecting many parts of Nigeria. Recent conversations with local leaders on the ground have highlighted how ongoing insecurity and economic instability are impacting everyday life; including farming, movement, staffing and school attendance within surrounding communities.

Despite these challenges, our hope remains the same: to continue building carefully, responsibly and in collaboration with the people directly involved.

Over the coming months, we hope to expand support further through educational materials, community partnerships and increased visibility around the initiative as Joy Osula continues to grow.
